PHILOSOPHY AND ORIGIN

My Journey and Philosophy of Life

I'm Mauricio Aguilera, also known as Mau Aguilera, a physiotherapist and yoga teacher. I bring together movement science, mindful movement, and the traditions of yoga to support a journey of exploration, understanding, and greater confidence in the body.

My professional journey began with a curiosity that continues to guide me: understanding how the body moves, how it adapts, and how we can develop a more trusting relationship with it.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from Universidad del Valle de México and am a yoga teacher trained in Prana Vinyasa, Vinyasa Krama, Restorative Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, Yin Yoga, and other movement methodologies.

Physiotherapy has given me the tools to understand anatomy, biomechanics, and the body's processes of adaptation. Yoga has opened up a space for me to explore breath, awareness, rhythm, and the experience of movement from a broader perspective.

My intention is not to blur the distinctions between these disciplines, but to allow them to engage in dialogue and enrich one another. Through this connection, I aim to support you in exploring your possibilities, understanding your body, and developing a practice that feels meaningful to you.

A Living Practice for Real Bodies

I believe in movement that can support us throughout our lives.

Movement that helps us develop strength, mobility, coordination, and confidence, while also inviting us to recognize our needs and honor our differences.

That is why my approach to teaching is not about having everyone achieve the same pose or replicate an ideal form.

My intention is to create safe, supportive spaces where each person can explore their abilities, discover new possibilities, and develop a sustainable, meaningful, and adaptable practice.

My Yoga Journey

An important part of my yoga journey has been shaped by Prana Vinyasa and the teachings of Luz Orea, with whom I completed my 200-hour teacher training, and Shiva Rea, with whom I had the honor of practicing and completing my 500-hour training.

This approach to fluid movement, rhythm, breath, and connection with the cycles of nature has profoundly influenced the way I practice and teach.

I have continued to expand my studies in restorative and therapeutic yoga, Yin Yoga, prenatal and postnatal yoga, anatomy, biomechanics, injury prevention, yoga philosophy, and Ayurveda.

I have also participated in classes, workshops, and teacher training programs, both sharing my own practice and collaborating with other teachers in their learning journeys.

These experiences have reminded me that teaching also means remaining a student.

My Approach to Guiding Others

I bring together tools from physiotherapy and yoga to offer experiences that take into account each person's history, abilities, and goals.

I want those who practice with me to gain a deeper understanding of their bodies, develop the tools to move with greater autonomy, and cultivate a kinder, more curious relationship with their own experience.

I don't believe there is one right way to move that applies to everyone, or that a practice should be measured by the complexity of its poses.

I believe in learning, exploration, and our ongoing ability to adapt.

Feel at Home in Your Body. Explore Your Movement.
